When to go

Late spring and early autumn are particularly pleasant for walks. Summer is hotter, and the old town can be very crowded.

Things to see and do

Walk along the city walls, explore the old town and Stradun, visit Fort Lovrijenac and optionally take a trip to Lokrum.

Practical tips

An early start is recommended in high season. There is little shade on the city walls, making water and sun protection particularly important in summer.

Getting there and getting around

Dubrovnik has an international airport outside the city. Buses and taxis connect the airport with the centre.

Where to stay

The old town offers atmosphere and proximity to sights. Lapad suits beaches and quieter stays, while Gruž is convenient for ferries and buses.

What to try

Try fresh fish, seafood, Dalmatian dishes and local pastries.
